Nature Fest

Today we went out to an event in a neighboring subdivision called Nature Fest. There were all sorts of fun activities for the kids to do, and Molly really enjoyed it. We got there right when it began and while it was strangely windy, the overcast sky made for a pretty morning to spend outdoors.

While we were there, we did camel rides, pony rides, inflatables, a crocodile show, train rides, firetruck tours, and walked around the park enjoying the day.

Easter Egg-citement!

This year, our Easter was filled with egg dying, egg hunting, and lots of goodies for our girls!

We started our Easter weekend on Good Friday over at Alex's house. Molly and Alex had a fun time dying eggs while Bobby hid eggs all over the backyard.

Once they finished dying the eggs, the girls ran all over the backyard collecting the hidden eggs - which, to their delight, were full of candy!

On Saturday, we headed out early for another egg hunt at a local church. They organized the hunt by ages, starting with 0-2 year olds, so Bobby took Ella in the field and let her collect some eggs of her own!

And, of course, on Easter Sunday, the girls were delighted to wake up to their Easter baskets filled with goodies from the Easter Bunny. Here's a look at their loot!

Easter Bunny

Today, we took the girls to see the Easter Bunny and have photos taken with him. We waited in line for close to an hour. Ella was pretty cheerful and wide awake right up to the point that it was our turn. As soon as I handed her over to E Bunny, she fell fast asleep in his arms.

Bluebonnet Season!

The bluebonnets are upon us, symbolizing springtime in Texas. This year, we decided to have some family photos taken in the bluebonnets, so we booked a session with DW Little Bitty Photography. While it was quite a task to get two kids dressed, ready, smiling, and happy for pictures, we did get several that I love. Here are my favorites.

Ella's First Job

Recently, a local photographer put out a casting call for a newborn baby girl model to do some model shots for headbands. Since Ella fit the bill, and we got compensated in the form of pictures (I love pictures!), it was a win-win for us!
Lerin Photography did such an amazing job! Here are the sneak peek photos she shared with us yesterday, and she said there are many more to come! I can't stop looking at them and how gorgeous my little Ella looks.

Pony Rides!

Today, I took Molly to an event in Cinco Ranch called Nature Adventure. There were lots of little activities for the kids to do, and the Houston Zoo brought animals out for pony rides, camel rides, even a petting zoo. She loved the pony rides! We waited in line for the camel for about 20 minutes before giving up. It was hot, there was no shade, and we had at least another 30-40 minutes we would have had to wait. She was content, though, to skip the camel for face painting and the petting zoo.

Show and Tell Fridays

Every Friday at school, Molly's class now does Show and Tell. Each week the item the kids bring in has to start with the letter of the week. Sadly, we were not on top of this until recently, at letter E. Today was letter G. Here are pictures of Molly with her Show and Tell items so far. E - Elephant F - Firetruck G - Goofy She has fun going through her toys trying to find something that starts with the correct letter. She also tell us what her friends bring in. She seems to really enjoy getting to bring something to school to show all her friends.

3 Months Old!

Today, Ella is 3 months old!

At 3 months, she has settled into a pretty nice routine and seems to be doing well adjusting to daycare. In the past week, she has really been sleeping well at night, going down between 9 and 10 and sleeping through the night until 5 or 6 the next morning. It has been nice to get that uninterrupted stretch of sleep back in our lives, and we hope she sticks with it!

One of her favorite things is the swing. As much as Molly hated it, is how much Ella loves it! I am glad we kept it even though Molly didn't ever use it, because we have certainly gotten our money's worth with Ella.

We have also incorporated the Sleep Sheep into her bedtime routine, and it seems to help lull her to sleep with its soft white noise settings. She falls asleep to the peaceful rainfall almost every night, and if she starts to stir, we usually can turn it back on and she goes right back to sleep.

She is up to 5 ounces per feeding, and rapidly approaching the need for 6 ounces per feeding. We expect that next month her pedi will give us the go ahead for starting cereal.

All in all, she is a calm natured baby (unless she is in the car...then she just screams the whole time!) and we are blessed to have her as part of our family.
